As part of the Project implementation activities, in collaboration with the International Science and Technology Center (ISTC), Radiation Protection Authority Zimbabwe and Radiation Protection Authority Zambia have hosted a Training workshop under Project MC5.01/15B “Support to Southern African States in Nuclear Safety and Safeguards” funded by the European Union’s Instrument for Nuclear Safety Cooperation. The prime focus of the training was on the implementation of the proposed Web-system which is aimed at enhancing safety and security during the transportation of Nuclear and Radioactive materials.
The training event was held on 15-26 November 2021 with participants from Zambia, Zimbabwe and DRC.
OBJECTIVE OF THE TRAINING:
- Enhance knowledge on safety and security of the transport of uranium ore concentrate and other radioactive materials
- Develop a harmonized system of accountancy, control and transport of nuclear and radioactive materials in the Country
- Familiarise stakeholders about the project and the web-based tracking system
